The “Fostering Wellbeing” Exercise

To effectively support others’ wellbeing, it’s essential to be a role model by maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Taking time to reflect on your own holistic wellbeing is therefore invaluable.

Reflective Practice

The following exercise will assist you in assessing your performance in relation to the Seven Wisdoms of Wellbeing.

To summarize:

Emotional well-being involves effectively managing and expressing emotions to support positive mental health.

Physical well-being focuses on integrating healthy eating, regular exercise, relaxation, and sufficient sleep to effectively manage energy and stress levels.

Social well-being involves feeling a sense of inclusion and fostering positive connections with others.

Financial well-being refers to the ability to make informed decisions that enhance your quality of life both in the present and during retirement.

Digital well-being involves managing the effects and influences of technology and digital services on our lives.

Environmental well-being focuses on being in a healthy, enjoyable, and stimulating environment while actively contributing to its positive impact.

Lastly, spiritual well-being is about discovering meaning and purpose in our actions and recognizing our ability to make a positive impact.

Use your journal or any note-taking method to reflect on each of the Seven Wisdoms of Wellbeing by writing down:

  • A score out of ten
  • One aspect that is going well and the value it brings to your life
  • One area for improvement and the key benefit it will provide

From this point, you can contemplate the next steps that would be beneficial for enhancing your overall well-being. This might be an excellent opportunity to involve your coach in the process, as they can assist you in developing an action plan and tracking your progress.
